There's something profoundly satisfying about being able to re-purpose an older piece that you really loved for a comic that you love even more.

Song of the Page: Float - Flogging Molly
(a strong candidate for Merlow's theme song tbh)

To repurpose an old artpiece for something new... It is a gift.

One of your best and most heartfelt pages yet!

Such a nice scene. And he captures the true feeling of a performer: anyone who watches or listens is your audience. Even if they do not offer applause.

Midnight, by Ken Waldman

The time one day bleeds
into the next, I unsnap
the case, put that fiddle
under my chin, curl fingers
around the bow, and play
spooked, archaic tunes. "Hey,
you're scarin' the cats--
quit scarin' the cats,"
my housemate would shout,
the godawful scratchy squeaks
getting to him, ten years
back, the fall I started.
Ten years -- thirty-five hundred
midnights, time enough
to learn two secrets: a wrist
that twitches in shuffling
pulls; a soul that flies
blind into the fingering's
notey, sliding drones.
Today I charm felines, refuse
housemates, and live a hermit
in an evil little town
where only the devil cares
I make late-night music
that taps a vein, drains
juice, transfuses.
